  41.             <body><![CDATA[The adventures of Peter Pan have inspired several movies, but Marc ForsterΓÇÖs period piece gives us something different: the story behind the story. Adding Scottish to his repertoire of accents, Johnny Depp plays JM Barrie, while Kate Winslet plays the mother of a brood of children (including a real-life Peter) to whom the author first told the tale that became the timeless play. ForsterΓÇÖs previous film, MonsterΓÇÖs Ball, was a work of grim realism, but here he has added a touch of magic to the facts. Clearly, though, he is not superstitious: a director who believed in omens would not have given a part in this film to Dustin Hoffman, who played the one-handed pirate captain in Hook, Steven SpielbergΓÇÖs disastrous 1991 Pan movie.]]></body>
